I’m a Parent Coach… and My Kids Watch TV

Yep, I said it.

I coach parents for a living. I teach about routines, connection, and emotional regulation. And sometimes… my kids watch TV.

Why? Because parenting isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about knowing what really matters in the long run: connection, boundaries, and balance.

Some days, screen time means I can:

☕ Drink my coffee while it’s still hot.

📄 Finish that important email.

🧘‍♀️ Take five minutes to breathe before stepping back in with patience.

It’s not about “never” allowing something. It’s about how and why we use it.

Here’s how we make TV work for us:

✅ It’s planned — part of the daily rhythm, not the boss of it.

✅ It’s balanced — plenty of time for play, creativity, and rest too.

✅ It’s intentional — we choose shows we’re happy for them to watch.

So if you’ve been feeling guilty about turning on a show so you can make dinner or take a break… let me say this:

You are not failing.

You are human.

And sometimes, a little TV is exactly what keeps the household calm, happy, and connected.
